Bahimiron-Southern Nihilizm/ Moribund Records 2008 CD Review

Bahimiron are a four piece band from Houston, Texas and I would describe their music as brutal satanic black/war metal and this is their first full length album for Moribund Records.

Drums on this recording are very savage and brutal sounding with a lot of really fast blast beats, while the bass player utilizes a dark tone and plays a lot of fast riffs that match up to the guitars.

Rhythm guitars on this cd are tuned down really low and there are a lot of fast riffs mixed in with some slower riffs that are very raw sounding and you can hear the brutality, while the guitar leads when they are utilized sound very noisy and chaotic.

Vocals on this unholy cd are mostly high pitched black growls mixed with some black/death growls that remind me of early 90's black metal before Norway and Sweden started dominating the scene and there was a short use of clean vocals praising the dark lord Satan.

As for the lyrics they cover a lot of Anti-Christian as well as Satanic themes mixed with virgin rapping, necrophilia and alcohol, while the production on this recording which was recorded during 2007-8 at Big Door Studios in Webster, Texas and produced as well as engineered by Mike BBQ/Grimlord sounds really good and you can hear all of the brutality coming out of all of the instruments and vocals very well. This is probably one of the most brutal albums that came out in 2008. In my opinion this is a really good cd and this band puts on a great live show as well which I saw when I was in Los Angeles this summer. Recommend tracks are "Amongst The Filth" and "Halo Of Fliez". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
