Hexenwald/Ceremonial Of Ancient Flesh/Hail Productions/2008 CD Review

Hexenwald are a band from Colorado Springs that plays a very Germanic form of occult ritualistic black metal and this is a review of their 2008 album "Ceremonial Of Ancient Flesh" which was released by Hail Productions.

Drums alternate between slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats, while the bass playing has a very deep and dark tone, as for the synths when they are utilized they bring a very dark and medieval feel to the music.

Rhythm guitars are a mixture of slow, mid paced to fast old school black metal riffs that go far back into the past with somewhat of a doomy edge as well as a small amount of melody being used at times as well as some classic death metal and thrash influences, while the lead guitars are very primal and melodic sounding black metal leads, as for the acoustic guitars they add a lot of darkness and melody to the music.

Vocals are a cross between high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some suicidal cries and deep growls with some clean singing being used at times, while the lyrics touch on Germanic Occultism,, rituals, Satanism and National Socialism with the songs being written in a mixture of German and English, as for the production it has a very raw and dark feel to it.

In my opinion Hexanwald are a very good band that should appeal to all fans of occultic ritualistic black metal. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Temple Ov The Witch" "Illuminati Noctem Divana" "Germanic Black Witchery" and "National Satanisten". RECOMMENDED BUY.
