Trist/Nostalgie/Fallen Empire Records/2013 EP Review

Trist  are  a  1  man  band  from  the  Czech  Republic  that  has  been  featured  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  I  would  describe  as  being  depressive  black  metal  with  elements  of  doom  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  ep  "Nostalgie"  which  was  released  by  Fallen  Empire  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  drumming  with  no  fast  playing  or  blast  beats  being  present on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  depressive  and  atmospheric  sounding  black  metal  riffs  that  utilize  some  melody  and  doom  metal  influences  in  the  riffing  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  all  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  melancholy  and  pain,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion t his  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Trist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  depressive  and  atmospheric  black  metal  mixed  with  doom,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Nostalgie  I".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
